HAPPY NEW YEAR ...

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone and all the best (health, success, luck, fun ...) for 2008! I´m allways happy to get response, but it is even better to get to see everyone in 2008. ALL THE BEST --- Kjell

Last race and first in the end ...

The "Sylvester Run" arround the Alster was fun and a good push. I did the 7,5km in 26:21Min. and saw the End (the word for the finish by the Team) first and Andre right behind me. It was fun and enjoyed running arround the Alster and the people who where doing their Sylvester walk. So now its time for some good food and a good win. HAVE FUN out there ---- Kjell

Lets enjoy the last day and the day tomorrow and we can welcome a new year with tons of fun. Happy NewYears run --- Kjell

What is sylvester good for, ...

What is sylvester good for, ...? "The term silvester (alternately spelled sylvester or sylwester) is used in certain countries (such as Germany, Austria, Poland and Israel) for December 31st in the Gregorian calendar, New Year's Eve. Swedes don't generally refer to the day itself with this name, but traditionally celebrate Silvester on this day as one of its 365 name days, using that spelling as it's the most common spelling of the name in Sweden. The naming refers to Pope Sylvester I, who died on that date in 335. The introduction of the Gregorian calendar in 1582 moved the last day of the year from December 24th to December 31st which had been named Silvester since 813." [source: wikipedia] and the word means: "In some countries Sylvester (or Silvester) is the name used to refer to December 31st (New Year's Eve). As a name, it means "wooded", from the root Sylvania meaning "forest land" in Latin." [source: wikipedia]

Do you have your´s ...

My sister was looking for ours. And after a little search we found one:
"A Christmas tree, Yule tree or Tannenbaum (German: fir tree) is one of the most popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. It's normally an evergreen coniferous tree that is brought into a home or used in the open, and is decorated with Christmas lights and colourful ornaments during the days around Christmas. An angel or star is often placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story." [source: wikipedia] Just two days --- Kjell

LIFESTYLE ...

Thanks to Susann and the Biestmilch-Blog. Another great view on things that are going on and views. Wikipedia is defining Lifestyle as: "In sociology, a lifestyle is the way a person lives. A lifestyle is a characteristic bundle of behaviors that makes sense to both others and oneself in a given time and place, including social relations, consumption, entertainment, and dress. The behaviors and practices within lifestyles are a mixture of habits, conventional ways of doing things, and reasoned actions. A lifestyle typically also reflects an individual's attitudes, values or worldview." [source: wikipedia]

takes a pice of you ...

A couple days ago, I did an easy run with one of the big guy of Ironman and we chated about everything. Talking about racing olympic and long, one thing I keep thinking about: "Every Ironman takes a little pice of you!". Of course this is individuell, but mostly true. There are athletes who focus on one or two races a year (the majority) and than there are athlets who do 12Ironman distances like Petr (minority). My ideas for 2008 are getting closer and more clear. I hope for some fun experience and good results. But first some happy holidays --- Kjell

trying to find the rhythm ...

I arrived 3 days ago and my system is still struggeling with the sleeping rhythm. The Biestmilch Booster defently helped to get close, but I´m up since 5am this morning and no way to go back to sleep.
Here a short definition what a Jet Lag is: "Jet lag, also jetlag or jet-lag, is a physiological condition which is a consequence of alterations to the circadian rhythm. Such alterations result from shift work, daylight saving time, altered day length, or as the name implies, transmeridian travel as on a jet plane. They are known as desynchronosis, dysrhythmia, dyschrony, jet lag, or jet syndrome. The condition is generally believed to be the result of disruption of the "light/dark" cycle that entrains the body's circadian rhythm. It can be exacerbated by environmental factors." core training, very important ...

"Core training for triathletes, By Alex Laws
Nov. 13, 2007 -- We have been hearing so much lately about core fitness yet do we really know why we should do it?
Let me give some light on the situation.
I am a former pro triathlete from Australia who went on to study exercise kinesiology 12 years ago. I was introduced to that big round ball that people use to just look at and never use. No one knew really what to do with them and when they would see me and my client doing these obscure exercises on them that thought we were crazy. Twelve years later it has become accepted and well known and more and more people are becoming educated about them. However I feel that swiss balls are still under-used, as it is such and important tool for anyone participating in any kind of sport." [source: triathletemag.com]

Doomsday. All you have. Make it the best day of your year. The saddest words you can ever utter are, ''If I had my life to live over again. ''Take the baton, now. Run with it! This is your day! Beginning today, treat everyone you meet, friend or foe, loved one or stranger, as if they were going to be dead at midnight. "Nur zu Besuch" ... "Just for visiting" - Toten Hosen

"Nur zu Besuch" ... "Just for visiting" from the Toten Hosen

"The Cookie Thief "

Found this on the web. I think it is a great story:
"This is to a scenario encouraging us not to rush into judgments.
A woman was waiting at an airport one night With several long hours before her flight. She hunted for a book in the airport shop Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop. She was engrossed in her book but happened to see That the man beside her as bold as could be Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag between Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene. She munched cookies and watched the clock As this gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by Thinking "If I wasn't so nice I'd blacken his eye". With each cookie she took he took one too And when only one was left she wondered what he'd do. With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh He took the last cookie and broke it in half.
He offered her half as he ate the other She snatched it from him and thought "Oh brother, this guy has some nerve and he's also rude Why he didn't even show any gratitude".
She had never known when she had been so galled and sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed for the gate Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate. She boarded the plane and sank in her seat Then sought her book which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage she gasped with surprise There was her bag of cookies in front of her eyes:
"If mine are here" she moaned with despair "Then the others were his and he tried to share"
"Too late to apologize she realized with grief" That she was the rude one, the ungrateful, the thief ..." [source: berro.com]

"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. HALLOWEEN ...

"Halloween, or Hallowe'en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. The term Halloween (and its alternative rendering Hallowe'en) is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day",[1] which is now also known as All Saints' Day. Some modern Halloween traditions developed out of older pagan traditions, especially surrounding the Irish holiday Samhain, a day associated both with the harvest and otherworldly spirits. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is now celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia and New Zealand." It´s physically impossible to listen with your mouth open." [source: John Moe]

Some history: "The youngest island in the Hawaiian archipelago (a mere half-million years old), Hawaii Island is still growing thanks to an energetic volcano. Yet our island is larger than all the other islands combined, hence its nickname, “The Big Island.” This is also the island where Polynesian voyagers from afar are believed to have first made landfall in Hawaii. And it is the storied home of Pele, Goddess of the Volcano. No wonder Hawaii Island is host to the preeminent annual hula festival in the world. The arts, cultural traditions and celebrations of our history all thrive here." [source: bigisland.org]

I DO ...

That´s a great one: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." [Mark Twain]

Overuse, but nothing to worry about ...

My issues with my back have reason. It´s nothing bad, just to much training in a difficult position for the lower back. A kind of temporary overuse, is probably the best way to put it. I need to do some therapie and do tons of streching and my COMPEX. If you are interessted, here are my MRI pictures: Have a fun day. ALOHA --- Kjell

Airport-race ...

I wasn´t feeling well, so I decided to help a young runner and make someone else race a success. It worked out and he/we ran a solid 1:04,30h for the 10miles/16km. Great weather and some fun. But I do not have an idea, about the place or so. Check the Airport-race webside. Have a fun sunday. Oh and congratulations to Sandy. She did the Philly Halfmarathon and made it in a great 1:54,57, GREAT!

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH THEM!

The guy next door

Got this as a E-Mail and I liked it ... "A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door. It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.
Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.
"Jack, did you hear me?"
"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.
"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.
"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.
"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said
"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said. As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away. The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time. Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.
"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.
"The box is gone," he said
"What box?" Mom asked.
"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,'" Jack said. It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.
"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."
It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read. Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.
"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.
Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:
"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."
"The thing he valued most was...my time"
Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.
"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.
"Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!"
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away," Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3 A s mile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
5. You mean the world to someone.
6. If not for you, someone may not be living.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and wait on His time, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
11. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
13 . Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and you'll both be happy .
14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great."
THANK YOU --- Kjell
