It is OFFSEASON
"The leaves have turned. The air is crisp. The medals from a summer's worth of triathlons are pinned to your board in the kitchen. But now the calendar is blank until the end of the year. Should you be racing in the offseason? If so, what races should you pick to enter?
Ask a few people and you will get a surprisingly diverse set of answers. To arrive at the best answer, you will need to decide what is most important to you. Consider which of these three (very different) goals is at the top of your list:
- Build the right base for next year.
- Strengthen your run.
- Stay fit, but having some fun. ..." [source: active.com / author: Paul Tyler] --- Kjell

How to Learn From Your Triathlon Season
"After months of training hard and racing harder, it's tempting to quickly switch into offseason mode and turn your attention to new activities.
But before you pack up the bike and put away the swim fins, you owe it to yourself to thoroughly review what happened (and what didn't) during the race season. This allows you to build on your recent experiences and create an even more rewarding, faster and successful triathlon season next time. ..." [source: active.com author: Chris Janzen] --- Kjell

I am here to win
Great read: "I get asked all the time about my typical training week, and my answer is always the same: there is no typical training week. I build on what I call a skeleton, but the specifics are based on how I feel that week. That’s why I’ve gotten the “fluffy” label. Everybody else thinks you set a routine and then gut through it no matter how tired you are or how much you hurt. That’s not how I do things. I listen to my body, and that’s why I don’t get injured. ..." (source: slowtich) --- Kjell

Dreaded Bonk
"Often, people associate the word “bonk” with “hitting the wall” during endurance events. For endurance athletes it is a sudden and overwhelming feeling of running out of energy. You were running or riding along at what seemed like a manageable pace, then seemingly without warning your legs turned to cement. With heavy legs, a body-wide feeling of fatigue and sometimes dizziness, you are forced to stop." The Importance of Raw Foods for Athletes
"... Unfortunately, in today's world the concept of diet has extended beyond what one eats to how they live and the identity that gets associated with it. In a lot of ways, what you eat is how society places and categorizes you. Mental Preparation for Your First Triathlon
"If I could share just one word of advice for new triathletes, it would be this: Don't allow your concern with race results and rankings to rob you of the joy of swimming, biking and running. Winderthon
My start in 3 Marathons in 6 weeks.
"The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards), that is usually run as a road race. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon (the namesake of the race) to Athens.
The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic events in 1896, though the distance did not become standardized until 1921. More than 500 marathons are contested throughout the world each year, with the vast majority of competitors being recreational athletes. Larger marathons can have tens of thousands of participants." Windermere Marathon
Good fast course: "The Full Marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. on Riverbend Road in Post Falls, Idaho (by the factory outlet mall). The start will be on a five lane wide flat road, then loop through a modern corporate/industrial park before entering the Centennial Trail 2.1 miles into the race.
The Centennial Trail is an asphalt path, 12 feet wide in most places, that follows the Spokane River. The course is gently rolling with a net elevation drop of approximately 239 feet. In mid-May, the river flows full with white water which is audible as well as visible! The Trail crosses the river twice before entering Riverfront Park and twice within the Park. The course runs through the campus of Gonzaga University just before entering Spokane's beautiful Riverfront Park." [source: WindermereMarathon] In a good week, I can take off --- Kjell
