Winning CDA Marathon 2015

Wow what a battle. I felt OK going into this Marathon, but I did not know how much punch I had. I started strong and felt this was going ok.
But than, at mile 13 I got passed and I thought that was it. Well 2nd is great too.
So I tried to stay in my zone. At mile 24 I could not believe my eyes, the guy was walking;) And there it was, my next gear. I put it all in and flew by him and left no doubt that I wanted to win. I did not fight back and within one mile, I took 3 more minutes out of him.
Great win and fantastic feeling to finish with my little girl.

Second win of the season

Two starts, two wins for the year.
The Indoor Triathlon USA a great early season race and it hurts! You have to push hard, not knowing where the rest of the competition is.

Win #2

Today, I experimented with a long run and a hard race. I started at 5am for a 18 mile long run.
Got home ate some and drove to race a 5km race at the Freeman HS.
Time was slow (18:12min), but I felt pretty good for the first 2 miles, than my legs locked up.
Good test and another win in the books.

7 days, two Marathons

And they are my last long runs before Ironman CDA 2013.
At the Windemere Marathon, I dug deep and did what I had to do to win. Tomorrow, we will see! Same concept and goal.

Alone time ...

"... Whatever it takes, just take that alone time, take that time to get your head around the enormity of the task you’ve got coming up, and realize that this is a selfish endeavor, and it’s going to call on you and you only, and no matter all the fluff you have around, it’s great to have there, but when the gun goes, it’s you versus you, so you need to get your head around that and get comfortable with that voice in your head that you’re going to face on the race course and that voice is basically going to tell you that this isn’t for them, and it wants to stop and you need to be prepared for that battle because it’s a tough one to fight." by Macca, triathlon-training, on youtube
Happy training and racing.
