Silvester
"Silvester (also spelled sylvester or sylwester) is used in some countries, including Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland and Slovenia, as a name for New Year's Eve. The origin of the name is that 31 December is Saint Sylvester's Day, named for Pope Sylvester I,[1] who died on that day in 335." [source: wikipedia] All the best for 2010 --- Kjell

4. Advent
"An Advent calendar is a special calendar which is used to count or celebrate the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Some calendars are strictly religious, whereas others are secular in content.
Today, most advent calendars are made for children. Many take the form of a large rectangular card with many "windows", one of which is opened every day during Advent. In less elaborate calendars, each window opens to reveal an image, a poem, or part of a story such as the Nativity story itself. More elaborate Advent calendars have a small gift concealed in each window, such as a toy or a chocolate item." [source: wikipedia] --- Kjell

"I have heart a million people say that running is the most boring activity that they can possibly imagine. Since I'm sure I'm not any smarter or wittier than these people, I can only guess that they never learned to listen as they run. They look good ...
I just tried those 3 minute no-bake cookies.
"2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons peanut butter
3 cups quick oats
In large saucepan, combine sugar, butter, milk, cocoa and salt. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Continue boiling 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and peanut butter; stirring until peanut butter is melted. Add oats and mix well.
Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until firm. Store tightly covered." --- Kjell

Nice article, way to go Dylan
"If you’ve been perusing the PocketFives.com forums lately, then you’ve noticed a thread called “Growing Epidemic in Online Poker: A Letter to the Community.” In it, Dylan ImaLucSac Linde pleads with readers to avoid upsetting softer players by berating them verbally and with stats at the tables and on online poker forums like PocketFives.com. He candidly explained, “When I first got into poker, the idea of ‘not tapping the glass’ was in a lot of poker literature and just seemed to make a lot of sense to me." [author: Dan] --- Kjell

where I met Carla and her Mom (Cindy). We are in email contact and I wanna share this: "On a positive note we met people like you, inspiring Carla and I. We were most inspired by you and an eight year old boy from Pullman. He has started his own business called "Cam the Can Man." His name is Cameron. He is going to local businesses and neighbors in Pullman and collecting cans. He returned his cans on Saturday and made over $100.00. He is placing the majority of money earned in a college fund then donating the rest to charity. We have decided to do something like this for Carla and her little sister." friday 13th
It´s friday the 13th. "Stay in bed?!"
"Friday the 13th occurs when the thirteenth day of a month falls on Friday, which superstition holds to be a day of good or bad luck. In the Gregorian calendar, this day occurs at least once, but at most three times a year. Any month's 13th day will fall on a Friday if the month starts on a Sunday. In 2009 this applies to the months of February, March, and November. The next year to have three Friday the 13th dates will be 2012." [source: Wikipedia] --- Kjell

Not my thing
There are millions in germany going crazy today. Carnival is not my thing at all: "Germany, especially the western part (North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate) is famous for Karneval celebrations such as parades and costume balls. Cologne carnival is the largest and most famous. Cologne, along with Düsseldorf and Mainz, are held in the public media to be Germany's three carnival "strongholds". However carnival celebrations are widespread elsewhere in the region, in places such as Wattenscheid, Hagen, Krefeld, Aachen, Mönchengladbach, Duisburg, Bonn, Eschweiler, Bocholt and Cleves. In parts of East and South Germany and Austria the carnival is called Fasching. In Franconia and the southwest-parts and also some other parts of Germany a carnival is called Fastnacht or Fasnet." HAPPY Halloween
"Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.
The day is often associated with the colors black and orange, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o'-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary stories, and watching." Coeur d´Alene
Off to Coeur d´ Alene!
"Just as Coeur d'Alene Lake served as the traditional focus of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, it is the center of the Coeur d'Alene community today. The lake, during all seasons, remains the heart of our area.
Early French-speaking fur traders named Coeur d'Alene Lake. According to legend, the traders believed the local Indians to be sharp traders and called the lake Coeur d'Alene since their hearts were as sharp as an awl. In 1878 Fort Sherman was established and the city began to grow. Coeur d'Alene was incorporated in 1887 and continued to flourish. It's a town with a rich background in lake steamers, fur trading, logging and mining." [source: coeurdalene.org] --- Kjell

9/11
"The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by Al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners.[1][2] The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania, after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights." [source: wikipedia] --- Kjell

Happy Labor Day
"Whichever it was, it’s agreed that the first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City on Sept. 5, 1882. Some 20,000 workers marched up Broadway carrying signs with slogans like EIGHT HOURS LABOR, EIGHT HOURS RECREATION, EIGHT HOURS REST. Painkillers
You have to ready this articel: "Painkillers blunt the body’s response to exercise", researched by Dr. Susann Kräftner, owner of Biestmilch. "... harmful effects of painkillers in the New York Times. Especially now, where so many of you are training extremely hard for the climax of the year in Kona, the Ironman world championship, these research results maybe of interest for you and, may even be helpful for your preparations." --- Kjell

University of Idaho
"Since 1889, the University of Idaho has been a place that expects more from itself, more from its students, more from knowledge and more from life. We offer a distinctive combination of outstanding majors and graduate programs, accomplished faculty, world-class facilities, renowned research and a residential campus in a spectacular natural setting. It's no wonder we're ranked among the top national universities in the country (U.S. News & World Report). We're also one of the best values in higher education (The Princeton Review). There's no better way to learn, think and live than at the University of Idaho. Expect more from a leading university. We'll deliver." [source: UniversityofIdaho] I like the campus --- Kjell

Life has now been explained to you.
Funny way of explaining Life:
On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."
The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?" So God agreed......
On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you abtwenty-year life span."
The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?" And God agreed......
On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."
The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?" And God agreed again......
On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years." But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God. "You asked for it."
So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family.. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you. This is funny, Thank Bill for the E-Mail --- Kjell

Disrespect ...
After my three races on three weekends on three continents, I had some time to think about it. It was not very clever and Tim found the perfect words for it. We disrespected the Ironman. Beside the racing, all the traveling and stress takes so much out of you, that it is hard to be in the shape you need to be. We all learn from it and watching Frankfurt and Klagenfurt yesterday, was so much fun. I never had the thought: I would wanna race right now. That is a good sign that I need to take it easy. I did three Halfironman and two Ironman within three and a half month.

Coach needed?
"Whether you're new to the sport of triathlon or a seasoned veteran, having a coach is a big step toward improved performance.
The structure and accountability that comes with training under someone else are two of the biggest reasons why triathletes turn to coaches to achieve their goals. But whatever your reasons, the big question is: Where do you begin?" [source: active.com] Feel free to contact me, I´m more than happy to help and work with you --- Kjell

bad luck ...
I guess. Well my racing recently was filled with great moments. The good side of it is, I learn allot. And we will see how this hard race will effect my Ironman next sunday. I´m probably losing my toenail and that will not be fun for sunday.
Yesterday, the water war cold (15,5C) and I had a terrible swim. Hurt my bad shoulder at the start and than getting on my bike was a struggle. After freezing for a couple km I warmed up enough to ride solid. I wanted to take it easy on the "flat" section, so I do not kill myself on the big climbing. That was not the right desicion. I lost quite some time and I came of the bike, after that hard climb with a OK feeling. Than starting the run it the fog (at 4500F elevation!!!) was allright. I started hard right away and made up quite some spots and did some for my CDA motivation. Finished in 5:29h (24th out of 600), I know not the greatest, oh well --- Kjell

South Korea
... is allways an experience: "South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK) (Korean: 대한민국, IPA: [tɛː.han.min.ɡuk̚]), listen (help·info)) and often referred to as Korea, is a country in East Asia, occupying the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. Also known as the "Land of the Morning Calm", it is neighbored by China to the west and Japan to the east, and borders North Korea to the north. Its capital is Seoul, the second largest metropolitan city in the world[3] and a major global city. South Korea lies in a temperate climate region with a predominantly mountainous terrain. Its territory covers a total area of 100,032 square kilometers and has a population of almost 50 million, making it one of the most densely populated regions in the world."
