The power of mind ...

"Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs.... who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants....
The race began....
Honestly:
No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. You heard statements such as:
'Oh, WAY too difficult!!'
'They will NEVER make it to the top.'
or:
'Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!'
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one.... Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher.. The crowd continued to yell,
'It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!'
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up.... But ONE continued higher and higher and higher.... This one wouldn't give up! At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top! THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?
A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal? It turned out.... That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:
Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in your heart!
I like this story, thanks Deborah for mailing me the runningstory --- Kjell

More for Youtube. It is fun traveling arround for races and you get so see so much that are fascinating. I stayed for the third time in Jeju, South Korea for the Longdistance Triathlon and these Ladys are just amazing. 2 nights an Airports

Realy I have to spend 2 hights at different aiports. That sounds pretty bad, but honestly I'm very happy if that all works out. Traveling those days is getting more and more challenging. The luggage situation is realy bad and than countrys like china, where you are not allowed to be at the airport and wait for your flight for longer than 24h. You need even for that a Visa. What if I have to sit there for more hours, like me? They just block your ticket and you cannot leave to get there. Finally United was so nice to change my tickets and now I stay one night in Busan (South Korea). Later today, I will catch my flight to Bejing airport where I need to figure out what to do until tomorrow. It will be fun, I´m sure. I keep you updated --- Kjell

On the road to Idaho

I´m so excited to come back to Blake. So I will start my two day journey back to Idaho today from Jeju. It was a experience and I learned allot. Some very new this time. Hope I gonna make it, I´m so exhausted --- Kjell

Awards today ...

Well the awards are today and I´m excited what will happen. I´m thinking going on stage with a shirt that says, I´m not a liar, I wanted to race and have the best win. Thats the idea of longdistance racing and not a stage for important people to show their given power. Sorry thats wrong. And I do not blame the Racedirector or anyone from the team for that situation, I just hope the follow the right path and make some consequences. I keep you all updated and if anyone has a suggestion, let me know. Thanks --- Kjell

FXXX over ...

... I´m so mad, even the final solutions is not made. Well it was far from beeing a perfect day here on Jeju (Korea Triathlon Jeju 2008), but I would have won this thing, if everyone wanted. But it looks like the head-referee didnt. It´s new to me to get a drafting card, when you get! passed and say something to that athlet, all within a few seconds on a small inclime. Thats excatly what happened. I will not let that be that way! So far I´m second place, but we are talking about first and second in a longdistance race, that doesnt happen to often, if your are not Macca;-) I let you know --- Kjell

Thanks to: My family (my mom, my sister, my grandmo), Blake (I love you), Paul Z. (for the help!) Peter Sauerland, Dennis Wachter, Korea Triathlon Jeju Office, Biestmilch and everyone on my way to here. I do my best right now. Kep your fingers crossed and cheer for me --- Kjell

At a Highschool

Today I visite a Highschool and do a little speech about myself, about international athletes, about sports and asking some questions about Korea. This is gonna be fun and I let you know how it went. And I hope my back stops hurting, I went to a massage yesterday, it was painfull but felt good. But it still ot gone. Lets see how the last 1 1/2 days go. I just remeber the quote from the Marines: "Pain is weakness leaving the body!" Well than, I´m ready for sunday --- Kjell

JEJU Island

I made it to Jeju island and had some good training sessions. It was a long journey and I miss talking to Blake. With a broken computer its hard to be everywhere and nowhere. Here some impressions from Jeju: (Jungmun Beach) (fun public phones here, but they dont work!) (Jeju from the top)

First time ...

MAIL-ignorance

I call it "MAIL-ignorance" and it is a disease in our new communication world. I thought mails are on the way to be a formal medium, but no they are not. I´m in progress to organize my trips, my races, my visa and plenty other things. Some of them worldwide, so Mails are a great thing, I can do them whenever I want to. But recently I experienced that people do not reply my mails. Even if you disagree or you are bussy, there is allways a minute for a short sentence. I take the time and sometimes I have to write: "more later or sorry I´m very bussy right now!" And that is fine, much better than getting ignored. So lets get back and reply mails --- Kjell
PS: I found even 147 google hits for "MAIL-ignorance"!

Some of the Biestmilch-Athletes will race and we have two favourites -Nicole and Chris - in the race for the victory. The trailers from our promotion in Hawaii made me smile. Have a Quilt

I defently have enough t-shirts for an Keepsake Theme Quilt, but not the time to decide witch onces I wanna use. to much

I know for the majority it is hard to get, but this crazyness arround soccer drives me nuts. Ok, I´m not a big soccer fan anyways, but what is going one here back home is just way to much. The European Championships started the "flagging" (you see every other car with a german flag) again. There is a article in a german Magazin about the "flagging": "Köhler und Künast erfreut über Fahnenmeer!" [source: spiegel.de] Well it´s over soon --- Kjell

Sunburn ...

I rode my bike for 4h yesterday i got a little sunburn. Not that bad but I notice it. Here the defenition of a sunburn by Wikipedia: "A sunburn is a burn to living tissue such as skin produced by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, commonly from the sun's rays. Exposure of the skin to lesser amounts of UV will often produce a suntan. Usual mild symptoms in humans and animals are red or reddish skin that is hot to the touch, general fatigue, and mild dizziness. An excess of UV-radiation can be life-threatening." ... and what to do ...:"Commercial preparations are available that block UV light, known as sunscreens or sunblocks. They have a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) rating, based on the sunblock's ability to suppress sunburn: The higher the SPF rating, the lower the amount of direct DNA damage." I love the sun --- Kjell

Hey, thats a fun picture ... Kjell

Monday, May 12, 2008

I won yesterday ...

I had a solid run. It was a close call. My mom and I drove like 4h from Coeur d´Alene to the Coulee Dam. We started extremly early, getting up at 4am and arrived about 10minutes before the start at 8:30am. I was probably not the best travelcompanien on the way to the race, sorry mom. We arrived, I registered, went to the bathrooms, changed and the race started. I ran hard from the beginning and was leading from the start on. The hill from k 2 to k 4 was though. Running over the Dam, was so much fun and you never get the chance to do that during the year. Thanks to the organiziers [Total Health Events] to make that happen. And than running on the lake was windy, a little lonley, but fun because I was leading. At the turn-arround I had a lead of 7,50 minutes. So I took it easy, sorry Coach Peter, but I just couldn´t push it harder without anyone there. So I finished in 1:20,21h and broke the course-record and won by about 13minutes. Oh the trip back was allot faster and way more fun --- Kjell
