Some history: "The youngest island in the Hawaiian archipelago (a mere half-million years old), Hawaii Island is still growing thanks to an energetic volcano. Yet our island is larger than all the other islands combined, hence its nickname, “The Big Island.” This is also the island where Polynesian voyagers from afar are believed to have first made landfall in Hawaii. And it is the storied home of Pele, Goddess of the Volcano. No wonder Hawaii Island is host to the preeminent annual hula festival in the world. The arts, cultural traditions and celebrations of our history all thrive here." [source: bigisland.org]

Overuse, but nothing to worry about ...
My issues with my back have reason. It´s nothing bad, just to much training in a difficult position for the lower back. A kind of temporary overuse, is probably the best way to put it.
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH THEM!

The guy next door
Got this as a E-Mail and I liked it ... "A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door. It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.
Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.
"Jack, did you hear me?"
"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.
"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.
"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.
"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said
"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said. As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away. The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time. Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.
"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.
"The box is gone," he said
"What box?" Mom asked.
"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,'" Jack said. It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.
"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."
It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read. Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.
"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.
Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:
"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."
"The thing he valued most was...my time"
Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.
"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.
"Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!"
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away," Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.
1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3 A s mile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
5. You mean the world to someone.
6. If not for you, someone may not be living.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and wait on His time, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
11. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
13 . Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and you'll both be happy .
14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great."
THANK YOU --- Kjell

Done, but ...
Why me, ... I asked me that question quite often. Well three races and the one I´m racing in, was unuseall cool. And everyone who knows me, I love ot warm/hot! The swim was not good, I agree Coach! On the bike I started like I planed to. My legs where stiff, but I tried to push them warm. But on the downhills and in the wind, with the extra chill, it felt like someone hit a knif right in my lower back. The power was gone and I had a hard time to push. Lookin for a 5:00h bikeride, I finished the bike in an slow 5:38h. Everyone who saw me coming in town, said you looked so angry, I honestly where sooo MAD! So I decided to kill it on my run and ran hard. Well maybe not the smartest and I paid a little bite. But running a 3:12 is allright.
So I finaly made a 10:02h total, 72place (out of 2400finisher) and 23rd Pro (out of 27finisher).
Thanks for all the help and for the support here.
Family Livingstone for the wonderfull time at their home.
Blake, Whitney (from Moscow ID, USA - 7h+ in the car) and Mike (Vancouver, Can 4h in the car) for coming from far to cheer me on.
I tired and done. ALOHA --- Kjell

PENTICTON and the Ironman
The town is getting bussy with Ironman. I´m here since Monday night and the weather is allright, could be a little warmer but it is OK! My homestay is fantastic, thanks to family Livingstone!!! I made dinner last night, Königsberger Klopse and everyone liked it, good. And I have done a nice bikeride on the course (60k). It was windy and hilly, but I like it allot. My running legs fell fantastic, so I´m realy looking in forward to the race on Sunday:

PENTICTON
I made it, but I lost (Well at the TSA check, I sure they where stuck in the Xray, but ...) my favourite Oakley´s. Now I will rest and maybe enjoy some of Penticton´s sides: "Penticton is a city in south central British Columbia between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake (at one time known officially as "Dog Lake").[citation needed] Its 2006 population was 31,909 (41,574 in the greater area). The name Penticton is derived from a word in the Salish language, and it is roughly translated as >>a place to stay forever<<." [source: Wikipedia]
And if you find my Oakley´s, I would be extremly happy.

COEUR D´ALENE ...
All about: "Coeur d'Alene (IPA: [kɚ də liːn]) is the county seat and largest city of Kootenai County, Idaho.GR6 It is the principal city of the Coeur d'Alene, ID Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 Census the population of Coeur d'Alene was 34,514 (2006 estimate: 41,328)[1]. It is the largest city in the Idaho Panhandle.
The city of Coeur d'Alene has grown significantly in recent years due in part to a substantial increase in tourism, encouraged by several resorts in the area. Barbara Walters called the city "a little slice of Heaven" and included it in her list of most fascinating places to visit. Locally, Coeur d'Alene is known as the "Lake City," or simply called by its initials: "CDA" or also "Cd'A." [source: Wikipedia]

Leaving Hamburg...
Hey!
Well thats me, if I do something I do it 100%!
I decided to change locations again and train in Idaho. There I will find simular condiditions to my next race, the Ironman Canada on the 26th of August! Ironman Canada was my first ironman 2003, so I know the course;-)
The training is doing allright, sometimes I´m honestly not super fresh, but it is working out. I just keep focus and do it a little different, with my coach Peter Sauerland (Sauerland Team).
The biggest thanks to Paul Z. for his flight support! Without your help and the orga this training and racing trip would be possible! THANK YOU Paul!
And think about this : "Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it!"
Best regards from the beautiful Hamburg

luggage trouble ...
I had some luggage trouble on my flight back from Washington 3 weeks ago. I understand the security (TSA) and that they need to check everything, but why they are not able to close the luggage proper? Here have a look at my sportbag. They decided to tape it instead of closing the zipper, why?
But the fun part, I start to collect the messages from the TSA that I allways find in my luggage, when they opened it.

Training ... Grandmo visite ...
Yesterday, I decided to combine my training with a visite of grandmo in Travemuende (at the baltic sea). So I started early, to ride my bike for the 94k. Then a little run 6k and some tee with my grandmo. She rested after our Lunch and I went to the waterside and did a nice 40Min. swim. But in my wetsuite (MAYSTORM), because the water was to cold (18C) for me.
Happy training!
