"The Coeur d’Alene Marathon/Half Marathon offers one of the most spectacular events in the country. At an elevation of 2200 feet above sea level, the resort community of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, resting on the shores of spectacular Lake Coeur d’Alene, welcomes visitors to a plethora of vacation and recreational activities. The welcoming community and natural beauty have drawn events such as the Ironman USA Triathlon Coeur d'Alene, held here each year in June." [source: CDAMarathon] --- Kjell

How To Be A Better Runner Without Running
To be a better runner you have to spend plenty of hours pounding the pavement. But there are a few things that you can do to improve your run without ever putting one leg in front of the other at speed." [Published: May 27th 2011 12:37 PM UTC by TriEurope] Makes sense. --- Kjell

South Dakota Peregrine Falcons
"... “Assurant Solutions has one of the tallest buildings in downtown Rapid City, so their roof was ideally suited to host the rooftop release,” said Janie Fink, raptor biologist and project coordinator for the reintroduction project. “And the Radisson hotel next door proved an ideal staging area. We plan to set up a webcam from the hotel to watch the chicks progress.”... " [source: pitchengine.com] Cannot wait to see the birds on cam. --- Kjell

Great dinner that day
"What’s better after a day of training than enjoying a good and healthy dinner with friends? In Galveston we really had a good time. Ronnie, Terenzo and Sebastian became friends. The atmosphere was so relaxed, and isn’t it amazing, how much fun we had after a long day of hard work." [source: biestmilch.com]

The Importance of Raw Foods for Athletes
"... Unfortunately, in today's world the concept of diet has extended beyond what one eats to how they live and the identity that gets associated with it. In a lot of ways, what you eat is how society places and categorizes you. When considered in this way, the idea of eating raw foods as an athlete becomes more of an emotional response than one rooted in resourceful thinking about how to improve health and performance. ..." Mental Preparation for Your First Triathlon
"If I could share just one word of advice for new triathletes, it would be this: Don't allow your concern with race results and rankings to rob you of the joy of swimming, biking and running. Hang on to the initial reasons you were drawn to triathlon. Fear destroys fun. And, after all, isn't triathlon really an adult form of child play? Continue to "play with purpose." ..." Winderthon
My start in 3 Marathons in 6 weeks.
"The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards), that is usually run as a road race. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon (the namesake of the race) to Athens.
The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic events in 1896, though the distance did not become standardized until 1921. More than 500 marathons are contested throughout the world each year, with the vast majority of competitors being recreational athletes. Larger marathons can have tens of thousands of participants." Windermere Marathon
Good fast course: "The Full Marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. on Riverbend Road in Post Falls, Idaho (by the factory outlet mall). The start will be on a five lane wide flat road, then loop through a modern corporate/industrial park before entering the Centennial Trail 2.1 miles into the race.
The Centennial Trail is an asphalt path, 12 feet wide in most places, that follows the Spokane River. The course is gently rolling with a net elevation drop of approximately 239 feet. In mid-May, the river flows full with white water which is audible as well as visible! The Trail crosses the river twice before entering Riverfront Park and twice within the Park. The course runs through the campus of Gonzaga University just before entering Spokane's beautiful Riverfront Park." [source: WindermereMarathon] In a good week, I can take off --- Kjell
