I had some fun in Tokyo during my 24h Stop. But it is a big city and not easy to find your way if you are in a hurry and just have a little paper with direction.

... I'm leaving Miyako ...

I'm on the road again and start for another two day trip. First I will flight to Tokyo through Okniawa Main-Island. In Tokyo I have an 24h stay and leave on Monday for the long flight to Washington DC. I gonna met some friends in Tokyo and having a business-meeting on monday.
By-By Miyako and hope to see you next year. A special thanks to Julia, Juliane, Berit and Ken - it was so nice meeting you and we had so much fun!
... and of course the raceoffice, Gary and all the fantastic volunteers here on Miyako. This island is realy a little triathlon-crazy (in a good way)!

MIYAKO AGRICULTURE HIGHSCHOOL

Today was school-visite number four and I had so much fun. And actually the Miyako Agriculture Highschool a prize for their created waterfiltersystem. A couple of students had the chance to go to Sweden to get the prize. The school is proud about this prize and it is quite a thing for this little island and for the school.

I had coffee with the principal, avery nice man and a Strongman as well! He did the Strongman 12 time, WOW! I just did it once.

I'm realy happy and in a good mod. Relaxing on the beach and just doing nothing can be allot of fun. Have a look at the todays newspaper.

It was a fun party and afterwards we wanted to do some more party, but the official party was allmost over, when we came. Well so we went to a little bar and had some fun.

SO today is the day, where I/we relax eat lots of good or not so good food. Before having breakfast I did a easy 20 Minute run and some stretching. That is not much fun, but it helps.
The breakfast was sooo much fun. The good feeling because of a great result and having all this wonderfull options of Japanese food. I can`t ask for more right now.]
Later we had the Awards Party and we will se how much more party afterwards?

I`m realy happy about my result today. Finshed 8th place overall out of 1500 Athlets and my Splits are good. I only missed my goal to run under 3h.
Overall Place - 8
Swimtime - 46:57 for 3k
Biketime - 4:17,67 for 155k
Runtime - 3:07,56 for 42k
Totaltime - 8:17,49h

Getting ready ...

After a nice breakfast, I had a easy bikeride with Naomi (Strongman Champion from 2005) and I did a little run on the beach and a easy Splash in the water. The weather is nice and I hope it will be simmular tomorrow.
The bikecheckin was OK and I talked to some friends, before I did my E-Mail session on the slowest computers I have been for years.
So sorry to all, who get late, short or no E-Mail at the moment. I will do my best and mail you all next week!

Another articel about the Highschool visite ...

The Mijako Newspaper wrote another article about us. Because we went to an Highschool here on Mijako Island.
Today was a brutal weather. Some of the raceofficals said, they would have canceled the swim today, because of the waves.
So we hope the best for Sunday. And please heat and lots of SUN!

We have been in the local Press (Mijakojima Newspaper) last friday. Today I got a copy and wanted to post it. I allways think it is fun to be in a articel and unable to read a word!

The race is getting closer and more participants arriving in the Island.

IRONMAN Lotterie ... well

Also die IRONMAN Lotterie ist so eine Sache. Im Grunde geht der Quali-Gedanke des Ironman dabei drauf. Sich für diese Weltmeisterschaft zu qualifizieren ist ja schon ein riesen Ding. Mit dieser Lotterie und den Verkauften "Slots" geht was verloren.
Auf der anderen Seite hat ein Freund von mir es versucht, da er sich schon dreimal qualifiziert hatte und aus Kostengründen es so versucht hat. Und da verstehe ich es auch wieder und würde sagen OK! Klar ist das Ansichtssache, aber für mich hat Hawaii was besonderes und dazu gehört die Quali.
Glückwunsch allen Hawaii-Qualifieren heute in Arizona. Bin gespannt wer es gepackt hat.

Ironman Arizona and he is doing it again ...

So the Ironman Arizona is today and with a huge group of top guys Petr is doing it again. He will be on the startline for an Ironmandistancerace for the 4th time this year. Have a great and fun day out there and to everyone who is racing - HAVE fun!
My race is in a week and I´m getting nervous and I´m soo ready to race!

STRONGMAN, the biggest deal on Mijako ...

Wow I´m impressed. This island is not just beautiful, it seems that the whole island is crazy about sports and specially the Strongman. There are signs all over the island, a stonehouse with signs and infos about the Strongman, at the Cape where the turnarround is. And there are these manhole cover are all over the place. I transformed this on into a stemp.

First whole day on Miyako

The first whole day on Miyako was allot of fun. A great early breakfast, a nice easy bikeride, a good solid run, nice lunch, fun swim and a litte beachvolleyball game.
Oh and the weather is nice, but allot coler than on Langkawi:

Arrived safe on Miyako ...

We (Dennis, Christian and me) arrived safe and a little tired the Island of Miyako. For me it was a total 2days plus journey. Tomorrow I will start with some easy training.
Sorrf for just a few words, but Im writing from other computer. But Im happy that I got at least the chance to post something.

Back in Japan ... konichi wa

I made it, I´m back in Japan and honestly, not abig deal. It takes just a tone of time. But, OK I´m not there where I have to be. I will be on Miyako Island on the 12th, so tomorrow. Right now I´m at the Narita Airport in Tokyo and getting ready to change the airports, for the Tokyo Haneda Airport.

At the moment all the good memories from my 4 trips to Japan are coming back and I´m in a very good mood.

Cannot wait to meet everyone on Miyako Island.

Leaving Langkawi for Japan ...

It´s time to go ... even or maybe because it is fun. I had to think about all the big (Ironman-week) and small (making friends) things that happened during these 91 days (correct, I´m normaly allot to stay just for 90, but I went to Thailand inbetween;-). Check my Ironman memories in YOUTUBE.

WEATHER ...

Well I´m getting ready for my next journey, so of course I check the weather. And than I thought, why do not check the weather at all your favourite places. Now you might think he is bored or so, no I just need something beside packing, training, eating and to much thinking. And this is fun:

• MIYAKOJIMA (Japan) --- weather cloudy to rainy / little wind 19-24C
• KAILUA KONA HAWAII (USA) --- weather cloudy / little wind 27C
• LANGKAWI (MALAYSIA) --- weather mostly sunny / little wind 27-31C
• FUKUE (JAPAN) --- weather cloudy / windy 13-15C
• WASHINGTON (USA) --- weather clear / 3C (no - to cold!)
• HAMBURG (GERMANY) --- weather cloudy to rainy / little wind 8-10C (no - to cold!)
• JEJU (KOREA) --- weather sunny / little wind 10-18C

I think thats enough and at the moment it looks that I made the right decision, with my location.

3rd place in the Island to Island swim ...

I did a fun race this moring here in Pantai Cenang. There are plenty of things to do, but the swimrace was the only thing that fit in my trainingschedule a little. And of course it is not do dangerous to do. Have a look at some more info: Emmes.net!

Oh by the way I placed 3rd out of a little more than 20 guys. Funny feeling to have a "good" swim-result.

Brutal ... ?

Well, last night I made this pic in our kitchen:

... and I thought, that is brutal. But beeing cannibal is quite normal in the world of creatures. I googled cannibal and got 7.810.000 hits. And in Wikipedia, I found this articel.

And what? I´m as an Ironman athlet, try to kill myself everday in training. I guess thats the thought people have, if they see what I/we do everyday. Believe me, sometimes it is fun and seeing the finishline - WOW. It is worth all the hard - hard work you have to put in.
